My baby bump (or mountain)!

Ok, I'm officially bugged. Right now, I'm 19 weeks pregnant. If you saw me pregnant w/ Sean, you may remember how huge I was. I'm getting that huge. I'm ok w/ that. Apparently, everyone else I come into contact w/ is so surprised that when someone is pregnant, their stomachs grow.....hmmmm...

If I hear another comment about my growing belly I might seriously go crazy.

Ok, listed are a few comments I've received....true and ridiculous.

"Lori, you've blossomed." (gently put)

"You don't look pregnant at all" (yeah, right!)

"Your stomach is huge! And so fast." I then replied, "I know, everyone keeps telling me that" (in an annoyed voice)
Then this person said, "You should put those people in their place. People are so rude!" (That one is my favorite)

OK, and the last one was when I was sitting at church. A lady said, "You don't look pregnant at all." I then pointed to my rolling thunder and she said, "That's just fat from your previous pregnancy." OOOOOHHHH I feel much better now. Thanks for clearning that up for me!

Seriously, I think that all people should just not comment at all. I know I'm guilty of it too. But, I hope that I've learned my lesson. If anything, just ask how that person is doing. That's it, nothing else. No need to remind them they are growing rapidly. In fact, no comment regarding their looks is really necessary (at least in my case!)

Agreed!!

I actually haven't had too many strange comments so far, but I've heard some doozies from friends who are pregnant right now too. People just think pregnant women are fair game for all sorts of ridiculous comments you would never say otherwise, and for lots of belly touching.

I actually heard a great solution for the belly touching issue. If you aren't comfortable with it, when they ask, "oh, can I touch your belly?" just reply, "sure, if I can touch yours." I thought that was pretty clever.

I totally agree with you. What always bothered me is after the "bad" comment they would than attempt to touch my belly. Umm, excuse me - could you remove your hand from my belly please. Take it all in stride and know that you look amazing!

I just read the comment from annakins and I second that...that was awesome!

My sister-in-law, when someone touches her belly without asking - people she knows and especially strangers, she doesn't ask... she puts her hand on their stomach at the same time and they get the point. I think its hilarious. I'm sorry people are so DANG rude!
Do you know Jen & Ben Arthur? You should check out their blog, she posted 10 things that non-pregnant people should read! You'd love it!

Lori I think that you look great! I actually love being pregnant. I just hate what happens after pregnacy, the baby comes out and you have to take care of it. I remember you with Shawn, I think that you looked great. You would always wear those sassy black heals with the cute black skirt. I thought to myself I wish I looked that good pregnant! I am sure this pregnancy will be the same! Love ya girl!!

Oh my heck, I hope I didn't make one of those comments! I think you are gorgeous and not (yeah rights) about it. Motherhood looks good on you! i got a good comment when I was pregnant - I was like 7 months and someone said "wow, you look bigger than I did when I was 9 months pregnant" thanks but no thanks on the size comments. Do pregnant women all of a sudden have no feelings? Most people seem to think so. You are gorgeous though. I PROMISE!

Sorry I told you that you don't look pregnant, but I really do think that!

Lori,
First of all, I have to say congratulations! Granted, I haven't seen you in a couple of years, but you have always been very classy, so I can't imagine you being anything but during pregnancy. Those of us who aren't blessed with a lot of height have nowhere to carry our babies but out in front. I had someone comment just a few days ago that I was a totally different person in regular clothes because I was "just so huge" when I was pregnant. (Reed is 16 months) I had always thought I had done pretty well.

I think you look great! Comments are really crazy sometimes. When I was pregnant with Jerimiah people kept asking me "When are you going to start showing" --like I have control over it!

I think most (not all) people are trying to be nice and not be mean.

*gasp* You didn't tell me that last one about "leftover" weight! I think I would have decked that lady. You're at church right? Does she not know that that is the Lord's house and you don't say mean things?! I think I would have said, "I'm really worried about your salvation and stuff."

Seriously, I hate this part of being pregnant. I'm not exactly small when I'm pregnant and I hated this everytime. And no matter how much people to tell you to brush it off, you can't. Sorry, your having tough times. At least you don't have four in four years, right?
